What we measured

Questions people ask

What is Pearl?

Pearl is a network where computers earn PRL by doing matrix math, the same kind of math AI models run on. Your Mac's GPU does that math.

Is it safe for my Mac?

It uses the GPU the way a game or video export does. macOS protects the chip from overheating. Choose Low if you want it cooler and quieter, and laptops pause on battery by default.

Will my fan be loud?

On Full, Macs with fans will spin them up. MacBook Air has no fan and slows itself down when warm, which is normal. Pick Low or Medium for quiet.

Does it use a lot of power?

Yes. It keeps the GPU busy while mining, similar to gaming. You can pause any time from your dashboard.

When do I get paid?

Mining runs through the HeroMiners pool. It sends PRL to your wallet automatically each hour once your balance reaches 1 PRL. There's no fee.

Can I use my Mac while it mines?

Yes. Everyday apps keep working. Heavy GPU work like games or video editing will feel slower, so pause first.

How do I stop or remove it?

Use Pause or Remove from this Mac on your dashboard. Removing deletes everything the installer added.

What does the Terminal line do?

It downloads the Malibu miner for Apple Silicon, checks that your GPU computes exactly right, and sets it to run in the background. It doesn't ask for your password and doesn't need any other software.
